LISTING OF PRE-1850 SWISS CANTONS AND OTHER ENTITIES THAT ISSUED DATED COINS

Includes the range of years dated coins were minted in Switzerland.

Earlier, undated coins were issued by these and many other entities.

Full Cantons are numbered, in alphabetical order. Three Cantons are composed of two “half-Cantons”. Other entities are placed with the present Cantons within whose territory they existed.

For a full understanding of all coins struck within Switzerland, from the Celts (300 B.C.) through modern times, the new HMZ Katalog (Volumes I and II) is needed.
